Hi all... I have been following some of the forums here for some time. And today I finally get myself the time to post something here for the first time! Nice knowing you all. Am actually from KL and my name as stated is Oscar. I felt strongly to this letter about "kita adalah plu" If I am to say, I think the members from this forum are mostly malays right? I actually runs a community for lesbians and most of the members are 90% chinese. I just want to share something here. The community that I run is named LesMalaysia. We start from nowhere and now gathered about 700++ members from around Malaysia. I also have the same thinking of Dee when i read the letter. Actually, there are already some NGO doing research on lesbianism and surveys. This resources are gathered so that in the future it can be tabled and also as an information. The purpose is to fight for PLU in malaysia based on "human rights" Example the rights to claim your partner's body if he/she died and have no other relatives, visit your partner in ICU (because only family members can do that) and etc. The current situation now here is that now we are all closeted and just mind our own business. As long as you don't disturb my life, am okay with anything. Am the only one that stays away from all this, wait till someone stands up and fight for all this. So in the end, it is one person waiting someone to pave the way...and another person and another person. If everyone is waiting, who's goin to take the iniative to better the life of PLU here in Malaysia? When i started the LesMalaysia, I have plans for it. Alot of it. which might take years. Or even the next successor of my community. What was the most important thing that LesMalaysia is fighting for is to create awareness, increase the level of information and education to the members, form a strong network of support , focuz groups for lesbianism issues, and also try to be in the visibility of the public in order to make them know and educated of our existence and respect us as one of malaysians that are capable in lots of fields. I have reached half of my objective in getting lots of members database. I am now going towards reaching out to other groups of lesbian that are not from the chinese community. Because if all of us, regardless of race get united together, it will definitely form a strong voice in the future. We can even have a better campaign or have a stronger voice for signing memorandums that concern us...(if ever one day there is a memorandum in gettin the gov to approve some of the human rights issue we are now fighting for) My coming soon projects is to organise workshops that educate our members on all lesbianism issues by having group discussions. We will also invite speakers from ngo to conduct the workshops from time to time. (still in discussion) I do want to know more about your holiday tour Dee. Maybe we can work out something too if you don't mind. But in the meantime, if i have really succeed in getting the workshops up, i hope you gals will join us too! For this butches.inc to grow and be more stronger, everything lies in the hand of the members willingness and the admins creativeness. The most important is to get the right code of conducts and "education". Be out, be loud and be proud to be PLU! (with good ethics of cuz!) Regards, Oscar

Ok i shall introduce myself before posting my comments here.. I came across this site thru pengkid frm Friendster.. and what I can see here, is all good! Strong brotherhood which shows good sign and positive future plan for such establishment in an organization.
As lesbians or gays, esp the cross dressers, not only they were outcast from the community but they are often times denied from job oppurtunities. Which eventually forced them into becoming what we call an introvert. Well even for me, even thou I publicly project myself as a butch to the eyes of the community and there are many affiliations in SG to choose from but there are certain areas which I try to skip atas dasarイ keugamaan. But then again we can always try to make something good out of bad situation, can't we?
Should you want to set up a PLU body, there are many areas which you can actually tackle.. one of em .. employment.. as we commonly see.. most pengkids usually work as either a server in a restaurant or abartender in a club. Not that I meant it is not a proper job.. but maybe ur upcoming organization could come up with a motivation workshop on how should they boost their self esteem in their field of work.
There are many PLUs who had been driven out of their own home coz they were not accepted by their own families.. here again .. the knots of brotherhood plays an important role! What can we do about it? And how can we do it? NOt to mention there are also a number of PLUs who can be extremely emotional and tend to be suicidal as and when their relationship falls apart..
Forming such org is not just about tightenin the bond of fellow PLUs but also to emerge in the society and say, "Hey we play a part too!!" During the Tsunami disaster, PLUs in SG came together and work as a volunteer to collect donations for the Mercy Relief and help to packets clothing and whatsoever not to be shipped to Acheh. On certain events like World Aids day, ribbons and flowers are sold and all contributions are donated to Aids Foudations. There are many things which we as PLU can contribute really but bcoz of Religious Laws and society discriminations, we tend to have many limitations. There are gonna be a lot of hard work.. and it will not be any easier if the rest of the members are not doin their part either. Once everything has been done, I guess it will be easier to say to rest of them who have been biased all this while to shut the f**ked up and mind ur own business! Pardon my french mates.. but it irrates me somehow thinking of how "normal" people been treating the PLUs.. What are we supposed to be Abnormal for that matter just because they are normal when it comes to sexual preferences? Geez!! How shallow can one be?
Well back to the topic.. as for gatherings.. yes we have had many events and the most upcoming ones will be on March. Where the SG d**es will meet up with the KL d**es in Malacca, Seri Costa Resort for 3 days 2 nights getaway holiday.. I don not know who is the organizer for Malaysian troupe but should you guys are interested to come, I can get the details for ya..
Lesbians or not, we are all humans! And as a human.. kita tetap mempunyai sifat kemanusiaan. If the intention is good.. and if the context is clear.. I dun think there is too much to worry about coz eventually or maybe can be kinda slow to show.. but support will soon come to ya...
As you already know there are not much affiliations body that are taking care of the welfare of PLUs, I believe this will come to a success especially if you have done your homework and work hard.

seriously, i think we shud do something about it, we have to improvised the mental state of not just malaysians but to every human beings. we can start from state to state in malaysia.. then make it possible to the whole country. as u can see, even in US, not all states accepting PLU ways. some of them were still conservative about this. some of them are so against this. but the western PLU did something about this. they fought and later their prayers and voices were answered.
no matter what kind of human we are.. we have rights too. its not about the races or the religion. it just about having the same level of treat as those straights get.
i agree, totally with Oscar.. and Ms Diana who wrote the proposal. there must be something we can do to make our life not a living hell.

I think the most important thing here is respect. Whoever you are, as long as you treat people right, you will be accepted.
